About the Course

“Israel- A Geopolitical Perspective is a 3-credit online course approved by the US Department of Education. The course is a thorough overview of Israel’s policies and the world influences that shape them.

It is presented by Ambassador Danny Ayalon and was written by academic experts in their fields of foreign policy. The course will look at the different intellectual currents of modern Zionism, Israel’s policy on core issues, starting with modern Israel reborn out of conflict, and dealing with political, military, economic, and legal aspects. Each session will analyze a different significant area, often using case studies for concrete insight. Topics include Political Zionism, the United Nations, the founding of the European Union and specific world leading nations’  policies towards the Middle East and Israel—and also chart their impact on modern Israel.

The course is divided into 8 chapters with lectures written by five different professors and uses hundreds of archival material from over 100 different licensed resources. The professional team for editing and production of the videos make this a unique course that is fast paced and informative. Each lesson has audio and text PDF.

Ambassador Danny Ayalon

Ambassador Danny Ayalon has served at the nexus of Israeli foreign policy. He was the foreign policy advisor to three consecutive Israeli Prime Ministers – Benyamin Netanyahu (Likud), Ehud Barak (Labor), and Ariel Sharon (Kadima), participating in peace talks and shaping foreign policy throughout the 1990s. In 2002, Prime Minister Sharon sent Ayalon to be Israel’s Ambassador to USA. He later was elected to Israel’s parliament and served as the Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel from 2009-2013.

Ambassador Ayalon was the Rennert Family Visiting Professor of Foreign Policy Studies at Yeshiva University, where he taught courses on statecraft and geopolitics from 2013 – 2019. Today Ambassador Danny Ayalon is Chairman of Silver Road Capital, an international investment banking firm.

Danny Ayalon was a member of the Israeli delegation of the Wye River Plantation Summit of 1998 and the Camp David Summit of 2000. Ayalon served as Chief of Staff at the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations in New York from 1993 until 1997.
